Junker - Klaiber Duo

„Eternally“ lautet der Titel der neuen CD von Manfred Junker und German Klaiber, deren musikalische Zusammenarbeit jetzt schon seit 2001 andauert.
Hinter „Eternally“ verbirgt sich die Musik eines kleinen Mannes, der einer der größten Künstler des 20.Jahrhunderts war:

Charlie Chaplin.

Chaplin war ein Allroundkünstler und zeigte sich bei seinen Filmen für beinahe alles selbst verantwortlich. Er war oftmals Schauspieler, Regisseur, Produzent und auch Komponist der Filmmusik.
Nachdem sich der Gitarrist Manfred Junker und German Klaiber am Kontrabass bei ihrer letzten, ausgezeichneten Duo CD („CD des Jahres 2005“ bei Archtop-Germany ) der Musik von Richard Rodgers, einem der bekanntesten und produktivsten Songwriter der Jazzgeschichte gewidmet haben, erwecken sie dieses Mal die Kompositionen Chaplins zu neuem Leben, die leider immer ein wenig im Schatten der großen Bilder, die sie begleiteten, geblieben sind.
Der bekannte Jazzkritiker Alexander Schmitz schreibt in den Linernotes über „Eternally“:
„Keine Unfälle. Keine Fallgruben. Keine Tücken. Nicht für diese zwei.
Eternally ist eine wunderbare, wunderschöne intime Kammerjazz-Platte geworden. Mit großer Musik von einer ganz kleinen, ganz großen Band.“

After having dealt with the music of Richard Rodgers (one of the most well-known and prolific songwriters in Jazz-history) on their last, highly acclaimed CD („CD of the year 2005“ - Archtop-Germany), guitarist Manfred Junker and German Klaiber on double bass this time revive the compositions of Chaplin, with unfortunately have always been overshadowed by the great movies they accompany.
